As I mentioned in the previous blog, we will be doing a really great workshop on two consecutive weekends. I will be heading the one taking place on Saturday, October 15th and JoAnne Kalish will be heading the one taking place on Sunday, October 23rd. So, people that want to go on a Sunday can go to one and people who want to go on a Saturday can go, back to back. The fall is an exceptionally great time not only for its fall colors but, depending on the weather conditions, the water falls that will turn into slalom races for our sports kayaks. Combination of sports action and definitive landscape work. It’s all up to Mother Nature.
To all the ships at sea,
While doing some research for our October “Fall Foliage” Workshop on Saturday, October 15th, I decided to go to a few new venues and shoot a test. Here are a few photos from that half a day hike.
Thank God! No photos of me… that’s good. Ira, I had a great time too.
Thanks, Joe D.
I want to thank you for hosting a great day in Chinatown. Scoring a press pass and shooting inside the barricades was an incredible experience, and I had a blast.
You said at the start of the day to try to take 3 photos that we would not typically shoot. Here are 3 that I shot today that I have never come close to achieving before now. Thanks for the inspiration and the access.
It never ceases to amaze me the greatest things in life are free. A little tiny pat on the back, a smile, an acknowledgment that you’re doing well. But the advent in the digital world, many free things are forgotten. I was pleasantly surprised when I received a visit from Peter Poremba, the CEO of Dyn-alite, his beautiful wife, and his equally beautiful, charming daughter Olivia. I’ve know Olivia since she was born. She’s amazingly beautiful and bright. She made this get well card for me, which is out being framed as we speak. Olivia, thank you so much. Peter and Conni, you done good! A few snaps of Olivia taken approximately seven years ago, and her puppy Harley.
I just received an e-mail blast from Adorama Pix referencing their photo books. Both my partner JoAnne and I have made ten different books that we use as teaching tools. Making the photograph is what it’s all about. In the world of digital we very rarely see our printed artwork. Adorama Pix offers us an opportunity to use our photographs and our creative sense of design and balance. To be quite frank it’s extremely satisfying to see the photograph on the printed page. I remember in one of my high school classes, I had a history teacher that would always refer to the Gutenberg Bible as being the first work of art printed on a printing press. Here we are, 562 years later and each one of us can print our own book to our own specifications any time we want. Yes, I was dragged into the digital world kicking and screaming and that is true but I’m like a 16-year-old kid because it’s just so magical and isn’t that what photography and film making is all about? It’s all about the magic.
